Wellness, wellbeing and being well, are all vital to our health, whichever way you look at it. To understand both is vital. Wellbeing, is the state of being comfortable, healthy or happy. Wellness, is the act of practicing healthy habits on a daily basis to attain better outcomes. Travel certainly falls under wellbeing, and now that we are traveling again, we want to share our favourite experiences on each island, so that you can start new habits to take home with you to enhance your wellness practices.

Kaua‘i

A wonderful start to any holiday is to relax, de-stress and float away.  Your personal float pod is filled with a solution of Epsom salts and water, which removes the feeling of gravity and helps relax the spine, inducing deep relaxation while lowering the stress hormones.  For those that are active with daily exercise, or for those that have explored the island already, float therapy is the fastest way to recover from physical activities. Anara Spa at Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i offers float therapy as one of its signature treatments.

Maui

The Polynesian ritual is the ultimate indulgence while on Maui. Spa Helani at The Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas offers ancient traditions that will transport you through the sacred Polynesian Islands.  Coconut shells and white sand with a Tahitian vanilla scrub starts your ritual off.  You are then transported to Bora Bora for a slow and powerful lomi-lomi (massage) using heated shells.  Finishing with a restorative application of golden manoi oil, your personal ritual comes to an end.

Hawai‘i Island

Discover sound therapy at Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, Hawai‘i Island.  What is sound therapy and how does it work?  Copper bowls are tapped to produce a range of frequencies which make a range of sounds, music and vibrations.  Combined with deep self-reflection techniques, your mind and body are subdued and this therapy helps rebalance the body to improve health and wellbeing.

Lāna‘i

“The best gift you can give to yourself, is to invest in yourself.” The experience at Sensai Retreat on the secluded island of Lāna‘i, is truly one of the unique wellbeing retreats in the world.  Some of the best-in-class minds have collaborated to bring this immersive experience to life.  A hidden oasis in the secluded highlands of the island, you will find the luxurious Four Seasons Resort.  Prior to your arrival, a personalised itinerary will be crafted to meet your personal and well-being goals, all which are undertaken in a supportive environment.  With meals by Nobu, this retreat will be one you will be coming back to, year after year.

O‘ahu

The Kahala Spa and Wellness Centre won’t disappoint.  Frequented by celebrities, locals and visitors alike, an afternoon unwinding with their signature Hemp CBD recovery remedy treatment is waiting for you.  Pre-book this 90 min treatment and enjoy the Hemp infused products that will target stretching, pressure point therapy and a deep tissue massage.  It’s the perfect remedy for those that have overplayed while on holidays or overworked prior to arriving in Hawai‘i.

“Wellness is the complete integration of body, mind and spirit.  The realisation that everything we do, think, feel and believe, has an effect on our wellbeing”  Greg Anderson
