How the Zero Project is Advocating for Accessible Travel

At the Zero Project, our mission is to work towards a world with zero barriers for people with disabilities. We believe that everyone, regardless of their abilities, should have the opportunity to fully participate in society and enjoy all that the world has to offer. This includes the ability to travel and explore new places.

The Accessible Tourism Summit at the Zero Project Conference 2022

One specific way that we are working to improve accessible travel is by hosting events such as the Accessible Tourism Summit at the Zero Project Conference.

In 2022, innovators from across the globe and leading experts in the tourism sector met in Vienna for the Accessible Tourism Summit at the Zero Project Conference 2022 #ZeroCon22.

The Summit

The summit was chaired by Ivor Ambrose, Managing Director of ENAT non-profit association, and covered the whole travel chain. The event was live streamed for free via YouTube, providing inspiration and food for thought on how we can cooperate to make tourism accessible for all .

You can watch a 2-hour presentation of the summit on YouTube

The Zero Project Conference 2022 on Accessibility featured contributions from world leaders, speakers from renowned organizations, and innovations in the accessibility space from around the world. The conference took place from February 23-25, 2022.

Some of the topics covered at the conference included “The Future of Work,” “Self-supporting communities,” “Access Israel,” “Inclusion International,” “Web-based orientation maps and apps,” “Scaling innovations from Sub-Saharan Africa,” “Enable India,” “Designing accessible Global Symbols,” “Inclusive Arts and Museums,” “The accessibility strategies of ‘Big Tech’,” “European Accessibility Act,” “Assistive Technologies,” and “Accessibility in Saudi Arabia.”

Research and Innovation

In addition to hosting events like this one, we also conduct research on innovative solutions that improve the daily lives and legal rights of persons with disabilities. This research includes solutions related to accessible travel such as assistive technology devices and emerging technologies that can help make travel more accessible for people with disabilities .

At the Zero Project, we are committed to advocating for accessible travel and working towards a world where everyone can fully participate in society. We encourage everyone to join us in this mission and help make travel more accessible for all.
